Causes of zits and how to get rid of them

You think you have some zits and you want to get rid of them? There are several ways to make them fade, but first we should look at what zits are.

Zits is a name coined to many different skin conditions with blackheads, whiteheads, pimples or spots being a few. And even some of the most polished movie stars suffer of these skin conditions collected under the name acne.

When dead skin cells clog hair follicles then acne occurs. Acne has many different forms and each of them has their own characteristics. Some are just down right annoying, but some even require medical attention as they could be quite serious.

Acne vulgaris is the most common form and probably what most people think of when talking about zits and spots. Acne rosacea happens to people aged 30 to 60 and is more of an inflammation of neck, chest or face than a real acne. It results in oily skin with bumps and a red shining. Acne rosacea is also often accompanied by acne vulgaries.

Acne conglobata is a more rare form of acne. It covers the back, chest and buttocks and usually affects males resulting in pustules often connected under the skin. Acne fulminans is an extreme form of acne conglobata and is a serious condition that requires prompt medical attention.

Acne cosmetica is triggered by topical make-up. Acne cosmetica appears as small pink bumps and is usually quite mild. This form doesn’t generally involve scarring.

On of the most severe forms of acne is cystic acne. It occurs when an infected pimple erupts not on the surface but beneath the skin. Usually occurring spontaneously cystic acne can be caused by scratching and picking at pimples.

Women often experience another form of acne when starting or ending birth control pills. This form is known as acne medicamentosa and is generally caused by reactions to medications or drugs.

Whiteheads and blackheads characterize comendonal acne. There are no other forms of skin lesions with this type of acne.

Now you might know which form of acne isthe cause of your zits. But how to get rid of them?

Prevention is the best way, which actually means to prevent any outbreaks. Day-to-day skin care basics like cleaning your skin and hand washing are some of the plenty things you can to to avoid outbreaks. Also simple personal hygiene precautions and not touching your face.

It seems funny but many of the tips for a healthy life will help you getting rid of zits. For example a good healthy diet made of fruit and vegetables is a great start. Also drinking plenty of good, old-fashioned water. Sleep, exercise and limiting stress are also very important ingredients of a healthy and zit-free life.

Nowadays you can purchase many acne products on the market, but not all will help you if you don’t pay attention to your personal hygiene habits. Scratching should not be one of those! You can use acne products that clean your skin, but do not take those claiming to dry your skin out. This might just open the door of problems on the other side.
