The dos and don’ts of lingerie care
When you like your lingerie you want to assure it stays in an excellent condition for a long time. It should look its best for the whole time of its existence.
Here are some useful guidelines for you to help your lingerie look like the same as the day you have bought it.
Every manufacturer attachs a small tag inidicating the correct procedure of cleaning, washing and maintaining to the lingerie. Pay attention to the washing instructions and recommendations on those tags as the manufacturers know best whats good for their lingerie products.
Most lingerie should be washed gently by hand using cold water. Of course rinse it thoroughly after washing. If you are using a washing machine you should make it use cold water on the gentle cycle. To let your lingerie shine in every facette of its color you should wash different colors seperately. With doing up all buckles, hooks, fasteners and zippers you can ensure that nothing gets entangled with other clothing. Also a wash bag can keep your initimate apparel from getting twisted up or caught with other clothes in your washing machine.
After washing the lingerie should be dried flat and not exposed to direct sunlight. If you think it is really neccessary to use a dryer, set the machine to tumble dry on a gentle cycle and best use a wash bag. Using a cool or low temperature setting helps to harm your lingerie less. If a dry clean is indicated by the tag on your lingerie it should of course only be dry cleaned. As already said the lingerie manufacturer knows best how to take care of your lingerie, so don’t be disappointed with the results if you attempt to disregard their recommendations. With the huge variety of detergents in the market you should also determine the best or at least a suitable detergent to keep your lingerie appealing.
In short you should always use a wash bag for your lingerie, use a proper detergent and don’t dry it under direct sunlight. Not to mention that bleaching your lingerie will let it fade. Also stay away from soaking them. And after all you shouldn’t iron it, but if you must use a gentle steam and try to avoid direct contact with the material.
When you pay attention to all these tips your beloved lingerie might last for years.
