How to make the most out of your hosiery

If you want to make the most out of your hosiery the first thing to keep in mind is to update your collection of hosiery regularly. Runs, snags and other signs of wearing make your stockings and hose not as flattering and functional as it should be. And with the variety of styles and types of hosiery to choose from it just does not make much sense to keep wearing and old and worn out ones.

Take an honest approach regarding your true height and weight when it comes to updating your inventory. It does not look good if you squeeze yourself into too tight lingerie and conversly the tent look is also never good.

Also you shouldn’t be afraid of being adventurous when you pick new styles. There are lots of colors besides black you can choose from. Textures, patterns, fish net or lace are also things you should at least try out. A monochromatic dressing can make your appearance slimmer so if you have a turquoise teddy there is no reason not to try a turquoise garter and some turquoise stockings.

One of the only colors not working really well is, besides possible beige, red since it can make you look everything else tan flattering. But as an offset to neutrally colored hose and shoes it is a classic and timeless look. If you are a nurse or a bride or dressing like one you should stay away from choosing white stockings.

Dramatically colored hosiery is by the way something you should leave in your bedroom as it does not fit in a business or professional environment. In such an environment you should choose sheer hosiery and if you are wearing two-toned shoes your hose should match the lighter color. Accidents can happen so be sure to always carry a spare pair of hose with you to protect yourself from showing up in worn out hosiery.

Rotation, style variety and proper care is all to get the most out of your hosiery. A lightweight garment bag to place your hose and stockings in is perfect if you do not have the time to hand wash them. Only remember to was them on a cold water setting. Ripped and faded stockings only mean that you have an excuse to buy new ones so be sure to examine them regularly for snags and tears.
